Adrienne's Lace Blankie

Wednesday, April 05, 2006

Y'all know I am nothing if not adaptable. So when I was told that Adrienne's baby shower is on Friday (and only handmade gifts were acceptable), I took a long look at my Faux Russian Stole. Baby color? Check, it's actually a robin's egg blue. Soft? Check, it's merino and alpaca. Nearly done? Check! So I ripped out the four rows I had on the next repeat, added on the edging last night, and blocked this baby when I woke up. I have to say, I am really proud of this. There is not a single damn mistake in the whole thing!! Of course, it will soon be covered with baby spit and is not machine washable, but oh well. Actually, another gal is making a baby blanket and I had forgotten about it, so I hope she is not upset with me. I think she is crocheting it out of something machine washable, so at least they can be used at different occasions - one for everyday snuggling, and one for upstaging other people's babies, heh heh.

Anyway, I'll try and get a picture of it in better light when it's dry.

I JUST REALIZED I FINISHED TWO PROJECTS IN THREE DAYS! Awwww yeah! Also, my mom in her infinite love and wisdom, has asked me what I want for my birthday (May 9). Now a hank of Helen's Lace (for ME) and a bag of Rowan Wool Cotton are snuggling in the wrappings, just waiting for the day. Little does she know I plan to finish both her and my dad's socks at the same time, so they'll get presents too. :)

It's beautiful! What an incredible heirloom to give to a baby.

And your sweater is great as well. You are such a busy knitter. :)
